NE:
How’s the weather treating you?
Mike:
Not bad. Tunde: Nice and Sunny
NE:
I must say that I was quite impressed with your debut
album, “ A Change”. It’s definitely something that I can
slip into my CD player, lean back and relax to. Where
did your musical inspirations for this album come from?
Tunde:
From God, and from various places. Our mindset was
to create something different, not to try to imitate anybody.
We wanted to create something hip that the young generation
can bump their heads to, so we infused a lot of genres
like Calypso, Hip Hop, Jazz, Blues, R n B and Classical.
Mike: I have to say God, the author and finisher
of all good things.
NE:
What is story behind the album title?
Tunde:
Not much, it speaks for itself…A Change. We wanted
to be different and also to give people something new.
Mike: We wanted to create something different into
the community, distinct tunes and melodies which will
capture the minds of both the adults and youths.
NE:
Do you intend to stay on the gospel track or you have
plans to diversifying later on in your career?
Tunde:
Lets wait and see. Mike: I am very flexible
when it comes to music, I love Gospel, R&B and other
melodious genres of music but I will never promote anything
that relates to violence or the satanic world.
NE:
Right now, you’ve made a name for yourself mainly among
the Nigerian community in NY. How do you plan to extend
and reach out to other groups of people?
Mike:
I plan to perform in different places, sell CD’s to
anybody, travel to anywhere in the world. The music is
much diversified; I will be selfish if I only sell the
CDs to Nigerians. Tunde: Promotion and Performance.
We intend to get the single “Most High” on radio and also
shoot a video for it.
NE:
What is a typical day like for you?
Mike:
Waking up and thanking God for what he has done and
what he is yet to do in my life. Tunde: I don’t
do much. If I am not making beats, I am either watching
a Naija movie, surfing the web or just chilling with my
friends.
NE:
What artists would you love to work with?
Tunde:
Open minded creative artists. Mike: Anybody
that is passionate for music, people like Fred Hammond,
Femi Ojetunde, Yolanda Adams and of course my main man
Yanni.
NE:
Tell us a little more about the men behind Mictunes.
Mike:
I graduated with a health science degree from
Stony Brook University, I love to have fun, play soccer
and table tennis, hang out and cook. Tunde: A little
more ke….anyways I attended FGGC Odogbolu then proceeded
to Baruch College where I graduated in 2002 with a degree
in Finance. Hmmm I don’t know what else to tell you oh….ok

for more info.
NE:
We heard from the grapevine that one of you quit his job
to pursue music fulltime. If it is true, how hard was
it for you to make that step?
Mike:
Not me. Tunde: I believe in order for you to
achieve your dreams, you have to be willing to take risk.
It wasn’t hard because I did it out of love and faith.
NE:
Are there any significant other’s in your lives or it’s
all about the music for now? I know the ladies are definitely
curious.
Tunde:
None. Mike: NC.
NE:
How do you stay on top of the game despite the occasional
negativity and competition from all around?
Tunde:
You have to constantly improve yourself, listening
and learning every day. When I buy CDs, I look for something
weird, something I have never heard of before. Mike:
Making a musical change in the community and breaking
music barriers.
NE:
Any plans of breaking out into the music scene in Nigeria?
Tunde:
Yes, we can’t forget about home. Although it takes
time because Nigeria is not a place where you can just
go without having a concrete plan. But by the grace of
God before the end of the year we would visit Nigeria.
Mike: Yes, hopefully with the special grace of
God.
NE:
Y’all have your hands full with the Music and your Entertainment
Company, what’s next in the line up?
Mike:
Buying and selling houses, working as a healthcare
provider. Tunde: Producing and making beats and
letting the world know that “A Change is coming.”
NE:
What’s on repeat in your CD player right now?
Tunde:
A Change CD…Israel and the New Breed. Mike: First
track on the CD “Gbega”.
NE:
Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade or Stephanie Okereke?
Tunde:
I can’t pick one; they are all talented and beautiful
actresses. Mike: None, I believe they are all taken.
NE:
Apart from your love of music, what else gets you going?
Tunde:
Life in general. Mike: My family.
NE:
Which of you do I get to take home with me tonight?
Mike:
I don’t know, maybe me. Tunde: lol.
